I. Am. So. Excited. To. Write. This. Post! 🤩

I really feel like I have mastered the design savvy kid friendly technique in our family home and I’m hoping this post will save you guys from doing the same trial and error that I had to do in order to be a pro.

Without further do, let’s jump into it!

  1. Keep your design elements simple and minimalistic. I capitalize on this in many places in my home. For instance, check out this hallway office that I just recently created.

For the desk, I made sure to only have 1 vase and floral arrangement. I also hid away the keyboard and mouse and made sure to push the laptop towards the back of the desk. That way it is harder for small wandering hands to reach. This tip is so simple yet so key when it comes to decorating with babies. Trust me! Keep it simple… sweetie 💖

2. Try and keep decor items towards the center of your tables. This one is pretty straight forward. Of course I would love to have a table setting with fancy plates and cutlery, and nice champagne flutes and wine goblets, but that is just not smart when it comes to toddlers. Instead, find items that are statement enough to give nice appeal but not over the top. AND make sure these items can stay towards the middle of your furniture table.

Missing a chair LOL

3. Stay away from glass items and things that are easily broken. A lot of my items have literally been thrown across the room and are still standing strong 🤣.

I love this table. It’s metal so I don’t have to worry about scratches or breaking, and it’s easy to clean and disinfect. Perfect for crafting and very design forward all the while. It also did not break the bank, which brings me to my 4th tip….

4. Do not spend a lot of money on your design pieces. That way if your toddler does get to it, you won’t be completely heartbroken. I mean obviously some items I splurge on but for the most part I opt to shop at places like Wayfair and Home Goods. I’m always able to find quality items for cheaper prices.

5.Use trays when you can. You’ll see in my living room I have a tray with candles. The great thing about trays is they can easily be picked up and relocated. So when my toddler has nothing better to do but play with my decor, I simply pick it up and move it to a higher up place he isn’t able to reach. Then when we’re done, I can quickly place it back.

The same goes for lanterns. So easy to move and looks amazing in every space!

6. Invest in baskets. I have lots of toys hidden away and you would have no idea unless I told you 😉

This concludes my post about being design savvy and kid friendly! I really hope you were able to get some inspiration and motivation to not compromise having a beautiful home.

Thank you so much for reading and until next time…
