I can not believe a year has passed since my baby was born. It is already Kavin’s first birthday! I can honestly say that was the fastest, most challenging, most rewarding, most amazingly fulfilling year of my entire life. Never had I ever imagined motherhood to be as hard as it is. But it has proven to be the best complex series of events that I want to relive again and again.

Kavin is…. so….. smart and funny and loyal and loving and energetic and cuddly and beautiful. I’m getting emotional writing this because the love that I feel and have felt every single day of this last year… I had no idea was possible. It’s overwhelming at times to love someone so much. So, I wanted to write this post to say thank you for completing me Kavin. You were that missing puzzle piece for me and I promise to be the best mommy I can possibly be with the help of Jesus Christ. I love you forever and ever 💙💙

To document Kavin’s first year I kept a log of monthly pictures. This truly shows how his features and mannerisms changed over time. Towards the end it was more difficult to capture the pictures because he stopped wanting to sit still. He also thought grabbing and eating the blanket was fun too 🤣.

We wanted to keep it simple for Kings birthday. We knew he wouldn’t really remember much or even know what was going on so I opted to save money by going to party city, making his smash cake & cupcakes, and barbecuing at the house. I had even planned on putting him in a swimming pool I bought from target to splash around in but by the end of the day we were all pooped so decided to skip out on that! He had so much fun and I can honestly say I wouldn’t have done anything different.

Antoine even went that morning to get a few balloons blown up for K. He had never seen balloons before so he really had a blast playing with them. It’s the little things in life right? 😍

As for his birthday smash cake……. Kavin takes after me soooo….. He really didn’t like the concept of getting messy 😆 He ended up tasting just a small amount of the cake and frosting then was like “alright! Enough of that!”

His favorite part of the evening, or afternoon I should say, was opening presents. My mom and I each bought and wrapped 3 gifts so he would have 6 to open. He loved it!! Of course, he wanted to play with the gift wrap and not toys but hey… that’s beside the point!

All in all, the day was a complete success. My mom and brother drove from Michigan to help celebrate and it really was the icing on the cake to be able to spend the day with people who love him. On July 1st 2018 at 5:25am weighing 8 lbs 6 oz at 21.5 inches long, the happiest baby ever was born. He changed our lives, our marriage, completed our family, and continues to bring endless joy to everyone who’s life he enters. I thank God every day for allowing me to be a mom.
